Westcave Cellars’ 25th Anniversary

Celebrating 25 Years of Love, Vines, and Community
at Westcave Cellars

This year, we’re excited to celebrate a major milestone—25 years of Westcave Cellars! What began as a small vineyard has grown into a cherished winery and brewery, deeply rooted in the heart of Texas Hill Country and in the hearts of everyone who has supported us over the years.

The Beginning: A Love Story Rooted in Texas Hill Country

Westcave Cellars is, at its core, a love story. It’s the story of Margaret and Allan, who shared a dream and a deep appreciation for hard work and fine wine. From the early days of their marriage, they enjoyed tending to their garden together, sharing the fruits of their labor with friends and family. This shared passion paved the way for them to embrace their true calling—cultivating their own vineyard and bringing their love of viticulture to the community.

In 1997, after searching along the winding roads of Texas Hill Country, they found the perfect location, just a short distance from Westcave Preserve and Hamilton Pool Preserve. Two years later, they planted their first three acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vines, beginning a journey that would eventually evolve into Westcave Cellars as it stands today.

Crafting Texas Wine

What started as a small vineyard soon blossomed. After years of selling grapes to local winemakers, Margaret and Allan embarked on a new adventure: making their own wine. Influenced by the traditional, old-world French style, they dedicated themselves to crafting wines that capture the unique character of Texas soil and climate. Today, the vineyard spans nine acres and includes nine different grape varieties, from rich Cabernet Sauvignon to crisp Vermentino.

In 2011, we opened our first tasting room—a welcoming space where guests could experience our handcrafted Texas wines while overlooking the vineyards.

Adding Texas Beer to the Mix

In 2019, we expanded to include a brewery, adding 100% Texas beer to our offerings. With the help of our former brewmeister, Patrick Vanderwilt, and now under the expertise of his successor, Porter Vanderwilt, we continue to craft beers that are as unique and flavorful as our wines. Locally grown hops and other Hill Country ingredients make each brew a true taste of Texas, expanding the experience we offer to our guests.

Celebrate With Us

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we look back with gratitude and forward with excitement. Westcave Cellars has always been more than just a winery or brewery; it’s a place to share in the love of viticulture, community, and the natural beauty of Central Texas. We invite you to join us, raise a glass, and be part of this special journey.

To mark this occasion, we’ve created a special video capturing memories from Westcave’s beginnings to today. We hope you’ll enjoy looking back with us on the moments that have shaped who we are and where we’re headed. Watch our anniversary video here!

Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to the next 25 years!
