No Room At Hamilton Pool?

There is a jewel in the Hill Country. We are referring to Hamilton Pool, just west of Austin.

Hamilton Pool Preserve is located on Hamilton Pool road, not far from Dripping Springs and Bee Cave. The only problem is what to do if the Preserve is full when you arrive.

We are happy to point out that Hamilton Pool road also offers other adventures within two miles of Hamilton Pool Preserve, including Westcave Preserve, Reimer’s Ranch, and Westcave Cellars Winery. The first attraction is Reimer’s Ranch Park, which has rock climbing, hiking, and swimming.

Another jewel, Westcave Preserve Park, has a stunning natural grotto and waterfall. It is only open on Saturday and Sunday and has guided tours at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00. Finally, Westcave Cellars Winery offers nine acres of vineyards, a tasting room, and a spacious outdoor seating area under a canopy of massive oak trees.

Hamilton Pool Preserve fills up quickly and early, making it difficult to get in. So remember, there are alternatives to turning around and fighting traffic to get back to Austin.

Our advice is to head west for another mile to one of the most beautiful places in Texas, Westcave Preserve. After enjoying the beautiful visitor’s center, you can take the guided tour of the cave and waterfall. Then, you can go drive another mile to find Westcave Cellars Winery on your left.

Even if you do get to enjoy the beauty of Hamilton Pool, you might still want to plan on visiting Westcave Cellars, especially on Sunday. They often have music from 2:00 to 5:00. Westcave Cellars is also child and pet friendly.
