Westcave Cellars Winery is proud announce that a portion of wine trail proceeds benefit breast cancer screening, treatment, education and research!
“Texas Wine Month Trail and Breast Cancer Awareness month both just happen to fall in October. Texas Hill Country Wineries membership decided this was a perfect fit to participate in the cause by donating $5 from each Texas Wine Month Trail ticket sold to Susan G Komen. With this disease hitting close to home for many in the wine industry it was an easy decision. “It is very valuable to us at Pedernales Cellars and within the Texas Hill Country wine trail community to be able to support women in their fight for a cure” says Julie Kuhlken, owner Pedernales Cellars and breast cancer survivor.
Ticket sales for the month long trail have been a sell out the past few years so for 2012 the association increased the amount of tickets to 800. Once again, the trail sold out! This made it possible for a $4000 donation. On October 30, two representatives from Texas Hill Country Wineries presented a check for the total amount to Susan G Komen San Antonio. “This generous gift will make a real difference for so many families in our community” Niki Simpson, executive director Susan G Komen San Antonio writes to THCW.
Texas Hill Country Wineries and Susan G Komen formed a bond at the check presentation and both groups plan to continue to build on the relationship and work together in supporting those affected by breast cancer and finding a cure. “Your support will make an incredible impact for the people who need our help the most. I look forward to working with you in the future as well” stated Elyse Alaniz, project manager Susan G Komen San Antonio.”
